Creepy, dreamy, perfect. Day 4: #100DaysStudioObj
Today's Studio Obj: a temporary tattoo from the 2004 Sundance premiere of "In the Realms of the Unreal," a documentary about Henry Darger by Jessica Yu. Which you have hopefully seen.
If you have not seen the film: do so immediately.
This is by far the best schwag I have ever gotten at Sundance (and I've been a many, many times). It has a prominent spot on my drafting table corner. I gaze at it everyday I am here.
What it conjures up: constant creating—simply doing your art, without compromise. Obsession. Nonstop making. Darger's work inspires me, creeps me out, saddens me. I love it.
I also appreciate the marketing know-how of the filmmakers. It was the first time I saw temporary tattoos given away. I've kept it close at hand for over a decade.
(For the image I placed the tattoo on my palette, yesterday's post. My non-manicure for scale.)
