More art (less clothes)
It's been a few months since I moved out of my studio, limiting my art making to couch collages. After some rearranging (and elimination of a couple of dressers and donation of many bags of clothes) I'm delighted to have a new modest workspace in the loft—with a view.
I'm calling the new space the nook and I've happily made several pieces to date.
I have a small grouping of tools and for source material I've been using the contents of a miscellaneous box I grabbed from the storage locker out (chosen for it's close proximity to the roll-up door entrance). Inside were fourteen 8"x10" foam core boards, a few thrift store books, and a generous stack of old magazines.
The box has proven perfect to get cutting and pasting again—I've completed eight collages, with six more boards to go. I think of the these fast, smaller works as the equivalent of pages in a sketchbook. Get ideas going, experiment.
Up next I have two shows I'm participating in before the end of the year. This is the perfect warm up.
